2009 is fast approaching, and it is that time of year again...New Years Resolutions...Year after year millions of resolutions are made and broken within a few short weeks. Why?
a. Breath-in for a 2 count and out for a 3 count.
b. Breath-in for a 3 count and out for a 5 count.
c. Breath-in for a 5 count and out for a 7 count
Once in this relaxed state, just sit there for a few minutes fully connected to source, fully immersed in the moment. If distracted by a passing thought, just notice it and let it go, returning to your relaxed and connected state.
Rationale: Having a clear sense of purpose helps you remain focused. A burning “yes” inside makes it easier to say “no.”
Instructions:
1. List the 3 -5 things that you want most out of your health & fitness.
2. List the 3 -5 things that you want to see happen at ______.
3. List the 3 -5 things that you believe make you special.
4. List 3 -5 improvements in your health that you can accomplish right now.
Take the most important one from each list and circle
it. Now complete the following:
I will (take the circled item from List 4),. using my
(take the circled item from List 3),
to accomplish (take the circled item from List 2), and in doing so, also achieve
(take the circled item from List 1).
What
do you think of this for your mission statement?
How
inspiring do you find it?
How
will it help you in managing your time and in making decisions?
The above example of building a health mission statement provides a inspiration to the individual far stronger then just saying "I want to lose weight." The mission is clearly defined, action steps needed now, deep thought on what you want to achieve, and why you possess the ability to reach your mission.
What do you stand for?
Once your mission is built what rules will you play by to achieving the mission? Another question that defines what you stand for is is what are your core values? Values once again can be different in your personal and professional life. To guide you on defining your values I have listed a dozen or so values below. Try to narrow the list down to three, three values that will help you achieve your mission.
Accountability Achievement Adaptable Balance(home work) Balance(physical, spiritual, mental)
Challenge Commitment Competitiveness Control Efficiency Empowerment Enthusiasm Family
Independent Learning Passion Power Results Vision Winning
By choosing these values you have now defined the rules you will follow to accomplishing the mission. For example if you chose challenge, competitiveness, and winning as your three core values as it relates to your health values you probably should be engaging in a competitive atmosphere in order to achieving your health goals. For this individual exercising in your basement might not be your only tool to achieving your mission.
Summary
I hope you can take the above information and allow it to guide you in helping your New Years Resolution come to life, and not just be something forgotten by the end of January. Remember to slow down first to move forward.

Jay,
Good stuff, this process of remembering more of who we are requires us to slow down and listen closely and deeply to our higher self for guidance and direction
